Hôtel des Seigneurs' team member carries the Olympic Torch
Saint-Hyacinthe, QC (December 14, 2009) - Jade Guilbert, Environment and Horticulture
Specialist at the Hôtel des Seigneurs Saint-Hyacinthe proudly ran with the Olympic Torch
in Kanata, Ontario on Sunday December 13th, 2009.
"Carrying the Olympic Torch was a thrill of a lifetime. It was incredible to be a part
of such a special event and to feel the excitement from the crowd and the support from my
friends and family" says Ms. Guilbert.
Jade is a leader in green initiatives for the Hôtel des Seigneurs and its convention centre
as well as within the company that manages the hotel, SilverBirch Hotels and Resorts. As
leader of the Hôtel des Seigneurs, she has helped the hotel win several environmental awards,
two being amongst the Government of Québec's highest achievement in environmental commitment.
In 2006 Jade was instrumental in creating the green meeting packages that have become
a success for the hotel and she was named SilverBirch's leader of the year in 2007.
Jade led more than 40 associates of all levels of the organization to plant trees as part
of a guest supported carbon footprint reducing plan. "We're talking about more than 1,000
trees planted annually by the Hôtel des Seigneurs' associates" says General Manager, Bill
Churma.
Jade also spreads SilverBirch's Green culture by hosting seminars and conferences on how
to make a difference, one Green step at a time. "She is the perfect ambassador for the hotel
as well as the SilverBirch organization, we are thrilled that she carried the Olympic Torch
for us" says Bill Churma.
